The Psychiatric Social Worker II positions are needed to expand the capacity of the Jail Mental Health Services (JMHS) program to meet the increased need for processing a high volume of mental health initial assessments and suicide risk assessments which occur on a 24 hour basis. In addition, the position is critical to satisfy a number of the provisions of the settlement agreement between the County and the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). In particular, the Psychiatric Social Worker II positions are essential for assisting with conducting initial mental health assessments and a suicide risk assessment in order to process both urgent/emergent referrals as well as non-emergent referrals within the designated time frames. Urgent/emergent referrals are expected to be seen within 4 hours of identification and non-emergent referrals are to be seen within 24 hours during normal business hours and 72 hours on the weekends and holidays. The Psychiatric Social Worker II may also be responsible for assessments upon an inmates release and/or a re-evaluation due to an emergency situation.
This position is PM shift during week or weekends; up to 12 months long.
